I can’t believe I’m starting the new decade (or not, depending on where you stand with the great decade debate!) with a toddler. It’s absolute insanity in our house right now, but I’m loving it! It also makes it hard to blog, and work, and eat, and shower, and sleep, but I’m not complaining. Thanks for bearing me with me though. I really appreciate it!
And now back to why we’re all here. I present to you the colors of the year! Drum roll please.....

Of course we must start with Pantone’s Color of the Year, Classic Blue. Blue is my favorite color, so I love this peaceful shade that looks like a pretty night sky. "It's a color that anticipates what's going to happen next...What's the future going to bring as we move into the evening hours?" That's a quote from the Pantone Color Institute's Vice President Laurie Pressman. Good question. What will the future bring? Hopefully good things.
Now onto the paint colors:

PPG's paint color of the year, Chinese Porcelain, looks similar to Classic Blue. I still love it though. According to its website, "In a world where sleep is viewed as a luxury and the anxiety of a fast-paced world is all too real, it’s only fitting that the color trends for this upcoming year offer escapism in today’s technologically-driven society. Hand-selected by PPG’s global color experts, the PPG paint brand’s 2020 Color of the Year, Chinese Porcelain (PPG1160-6) is a blend of cobalt and moody, ink blue that imparts calmness and restful sleep while also offering the spirit of hopefulness – a rare commodity in a restless world." Yes indeed.

Benjamin Moore's choice, First Light, is described as "A refreshing alternative to white or beige, First Light 2102-70 is a soft, airy pink that flatters any space and plays well with other colors." This color makes me happy! I can see it used in obvious spaces like nurseries and big girl rooms, but I also think it would be beautiful in a sunroom that gets plenty of natural light or even a living room like the one pictured above!

Behr has chosen Back to Nature as its color of the year, and describes it as calm, gracious, and balanced. The website says, "As we enter the next decade, we strive for vibrancy in life and shape it how we choose. As nature’s favorite color, Back to Nature is a restorative and revitalizing green hue that engages the senses and pairs well with other colors both inside and outside your home." Anything that brings the outdoors in is alright with me.

Sherwin Williams adds another blue to the mix with their pick, Naval. Yay!! Who doesn't love a classic navy, and this color doesn't disappoint! According to SW their 2020 color is "a rich navy that creates a calm and grounding environment infused with quiet confidence. And while you may think Navy’s been done before – it’s never been done like this…" Um, yes please.

Farrow and Ball doesn't have one color they have colours, and they're all beautifully inspired by nature. One of my favorites is Duck Green, seen above. "Duck Green is wonderfully strong yet subdued”, says Joa Studholme, Farrow and Ball's resident color curator and tastemaker. “It feels familiar but still contemporary, so it’s a great trend-led twist on the perennially popular charcoal. Chic by day and cosy by night, it brings a luxurious atmosphere to any room, ideal for creating spaces in which to curl up at the end of the day.” Oh Joa, you had me at "chic by day and cosy by night"!
